Cowan, Clyde Lorrain

The American Clyde Lorrain Cowan (1919 - 1974) was a physicist.
In 1951, Clyde Lorrain Cowan and Frederick Reines began their quest for the neutrino. Because the neutrino was hypo-thetically created through beta decay, they used the Savannah River Plant as a source of potential neutrinos. In 1956, they con¬cluded that they had indeed observed this particle.
