Stopping power

The quantity stopping power (S) describes the release of energy (E) per unit of length (l). Instead of the linear stopping power S (in MeV per m), often the mass stopping power S/ρ (in MeV per kg/m²) is given. Here, ρ (in kg/m³) is the density of the material.

The quantity is related to radiation weighting factor (w_R).
