Stopping power

The quantity stopping power (S) describes the release of energy (E) per unit of length (l). The quantity is related to radiation weighting factor (w_R ).

Instead of the linear stopping power S (in MeV·m^-1), often the mass stopping power S/ρ (in MeV·kg^-1·m²) is given. Here, ρ (in kg·m-³) is the density of the material.
