Radiotoxicity equivalent
The quantity radiotoxicity equivalent (Re) is the activity (A) which, at intake, results in a committed effective dose of 1 sievert. The corresponding unit is becquerel (Bq). The radiotoxicity equivalent is proportional to the inverse of the dose conversion coefficient e(50):
1 Re = 1 (Sv) / e(50) (Sv·Bq-1)
E(50) = A / Re
The value of the radiotoxicity equivalent strongly depends on the nuclide, the chemical properties of the radioactive substance and the method of intake.
