The Decree on Basic Safety Standards Radiation Protection explicitly states that an enterprise must ensure that the doses of individuals and the number of exposures must be as low as reasonably achievable, social and economic factors taken into accoiunt. This is known as the ALARA principle.

The three pilars on which radiation protection is based, are:
