Deregister after graduation

  • Does graduation mean automatic deregistration?

    No, graduation does not mean automatic deregistration. You will have to submit a request for deregistration via Studielink.

  • Am I obliged to deregister after graduation?

    No. You are not obliged to deregister after you have graduated. Please note that you are not entitled to a refund of (part of) the tuition fees if you choose to stay registered longer.

    You can submit a request for deregistration via Studielink.

  • How long does it take for my deregistration request to be processed?

    Your request will be processed within 6 weeks. If you deregister on the basis of obtaining your degree certificate, this may take a little longer if your exam date is not yet known.

  • How can I see if my deregistration has been processed?

    You will receive a confirmation in your email.

  • As of what date my registration will be ended?

    It depends on why you want to end your registration.

    Reason Your registration will be ended
    Quit your degree programme as of the first day of the following month
    Graduation on the first day of the month after the month in which the final assessment is passed (date on certificate)
    Decease the first day of the month after the month in which the student died

  • Reimbursement of tuition fees

    You are entitled to a reimbursement of 1/12 of the tuition fees for each month of the academic year in which you are no longer registered.

    Please note: There are no reimbursement of tuition fees for the months of July and August.  You are not entitled to reimbursement if you deregister for a pre-master programme, unless you have filed a request for deregistration via Studielink in the first three months of your enrollment.

  • Do I retain access to my email, etc. after deregistration?

    You have 8 weeks (56 days) to save your mail and files to a secure location after you received the email that you are officially deregister.

    Blocked
    After 8 weeks your account will be blocked, although your mails and files will be saved for a further 309 days.

    Definitive deletion
    After 309 days your account, including any email messages and files, will be definitively deleted. You will not receive notification of this.
  • Can I cancel my request for deregistration?

    If you have submitted a request for deregistration, it can no longer be cancelled in Studielink. Contact the Student Information and Administration as soon as possible.

  • Why was my deregistration request that I submitted in July/August rejected?

    No reimbursement will be made for the months of July and August. For that reason, your request to deregistration will be rejected. In this way you may also retain the right to student finance and a student travel product.
