Workshop inclusive recruitment

In this workshop you learn how you, as a member of a recruitment committee, can contribute to conducting an open, transparent and merit-based recruitment process (OTM-R)


As a member of a recruitment committee you are responsible for an inclusive, open, transparent and merit-based recruitment process. In this workshop you will learn what you can do to achieve this, also when the decision process is complex and members of different hierarchical levels and interests are involved.

Intended for

Chairs and members of selection committees


Self-reflection, interpersonal sensitivity and skills,, communication skills, organizational sensitivity


You will:

  • gain awareness of your own (un)conscious biases and stereotypes and the impact on the recruitment process;
  • be able to identify diversity issues and mechanisms at play in the recruitment process and the selection team;
  • learn to speak up about disadvantage and to include all members of the committee in the process;
  • learn how to conduct the recruitment process according the UG recruitment guide (with the guiding principles of OTM-R);
  • learn to identify best practices for your own role and sphere of influence in the recruitment process;
  • learn to apply applicable tools to prevent and address unconscious bias in the recruitment process at UG.


Our trainers work at the University of Groningen. We will work with UG practice based case studies.

This workshop is also available as group training for a faculty or department


The workshop consist of three sessions of 2 hours spread over 6 weeks and individual and group exercises as homework/preparation. The workshop is in English.



Groningen-on Campus, or online, depending on the availability of the trainers and/or the wishes of the participants.

This training is available on requests as an incompany training.
