My idea is to bring students together with EU policymakers via Skype and giving them the opportunity to interview them. This would add to their understanding of the EU and make the EU less abstract. We will approach various types of policymakers (interest groups, like the European Trade Union Confederation or BusinessEurope, Members of the European Parliament, staff of EU institutions etc.). We will integrate these interviews into the courses as a regular event as often political science and legal courses are very theoretical in nature. Including long-distance interviews would add an element of real qualitative research with real persons, who are at the heart of European Union policy making.. Students will not only prepare for the interviews but also practice their research skills under realistic conditions (with a stranger who is an expert on a certain subject). It would also contribute to the goals of internationalization and digitalization of the Bologna agenda.
