Dual Career Support workshops

Dual Career Support organizes free workshops for our candidates throughout the year. In addition, we also refer to social gatherings at the International Welcome Center North (IWCN) and help newcomers to learn Dutch through the UG Language Centre.

Cover Letter training

For whom?

In addition to your CV, your cover letter is your personal advertisement. But how do you stand out from the crowd, so that you can be invited to a job interview? This workshop is for those who wish to apply for a job and need to learn the techniques to write a professional cover letter.

What to expect?

In this workshop we will provide you the tools to write a well structured and attractive cover letter. You will learn how to emphasize your strengths and how to tailor them to a your desired job role.

Job interview

What is it all about?

You are invited for a job interview! Exciting! What to expect from a job interview and what is the best way to prepare yourself in order to be successful? In this training, we pay attention to these questions and provide you with information that gives you the confidence you need for the job interview. We will teach you:

  • How are you going to present yourself?
  • What are the frequently asked questions by recruiters?
  • How to handle difficult questions?
  • What are the do's and don'ts of an interview?

Practice sessions

For whom?

Dual Career Support (DCS) is organizing mock interview sessions with a career coach for our job seeking DCS participants. If you are a job seeker needing individual assistance in your preparation for your upcoming interview, please sign up for this one-on-one session with a job coach. Please note that when you sign up, you can choose to attend a session.

What to expect?

During the session, you will be practicing for a job interview. Each session will last up to 30 min and once you sign up, you will be assigned a specific time slot and meeting location.

What to bring?

Please send in your CV, cover letter and the vacancy text of the job that you have applied or applying before the session.

CV and LinkedIn training

For whom?

This workshop is for those who wish to apply for a job in Dutch job market and need to learn the techniques to write a professional CV and build and improve their LinkedIn profile.

What to expect?

In this interactive training, you will gain a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of CV writing as well as learn tips to create an engaging and appealing LinkedIn profile. During the session, you will learn to analyze a job advertisement and the techniques to tailor your CV and LinkedIn profile that are attractive and convincing for the potential employers and recruiters; so that you can get invited for a job interview.

Don't forget... to make sure that you create a (basic) LinkedIn account prior to the start of the workshop if you don't have one. Please have your linkedIn account accessible during the training by bringing your laptop or other devices!

Individual question session

What is it all about?

Dual Career Support (DCS) is organizing “Individual job application sessions with a career coach” for our job seeking DCS participants. If you are a job seeker needing individual assistance in your job application, please sign up for our upcoming one-on-one session with a job coach.

What to expect?

During the session, you may get advice on your CV, motivation letter and your LinkedIn profile. Each session will last up to 30 min and once you sign up, you will be assigned a specific time slot and meeting location.

Please note that since we have limited time available for individual sessions, those who have attended our “CV and Cover letter” and “LinkedIn” trainings will receive priority to participate.

If you sign up for an individual session, you are expected to show up and come prepared with your questions. Since this is highly sought after service, you can sign up for only one session at a time. If you cannot come for some reason after signing up, please contact us at dualcareer rug.nl as soon as possible. This way we can free up the opportunity for other interested candidates.
