Award for students with a migration background - summer course at UCLA
The Diversity & Inclusion Office is pleased to share that the call for the ECHO Award 2025 is now open!
Are you, or do you know, a student with a migration background from one of the countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia, or Turkey who is actively engaged in society and making a positive impact? Then consider applying, or nominating someone, for the ECHO Award.
What is the ECHO Award?
The ECHO Award is presented annually to socially engaged students with a non-western migration background who stand out through:
-
Their contribution to positive societal change
-
Involvement in policy or systemic change
-
Leadership and vision in addressing structural inequalities
Winners are awarded a fully funded Summer Course at UCLA in California in 2026.
Note: participation in the course is subject to change; if necessary, an equivalent alternative will be arranged in consultation with the winners.
How to apply or nominate
Students can apply directly, and staff can nominate students.
More information about the criteria, the application form, and how to submit can be found on the page below.
UG internal deadline: 1 June 2025 at 23:59. Note that the internal UG application process is slightly different from the ECHO application process.
Let’s celebrate leadership, impact, and the strength of diversity together!
