Leliveld, Prof. Marijke

Marijke Leliveld
Marijke Leliveld

Marijke Leliveld is Aletta Jacobs Professor of Consumer Ethics at the Faculty of Economics and Business. In addition to her expertise in the field of morality and ethics, Leliveld contributes to the themes of sustainable society and sustainable prosperity.

She received a grant of €100,000 from the Gratama Foundation for a research project that focuses on producing organic textiles for sustainable fashion. Leliveld focuses on the consumer side of the project: what do consumers need in order to accept certain materials as suitable for clothing?

Lelieveld is also part of the new SORTED textile project, which focuses on innovation, recycling, behavioural change, and circular business models throughout the textile chain, from collection and sorting to reuse and fibre-to-fibre recycling. Under Leliveld’s leadership, research is being conducted into how consumers can make their clothing consumption more sustainable – by buying, wearing, and discarding less, better, and more consciously.
