'Proof of Competence' awarded to three EQUiiP participants
Rector Magnificus Jacquelien Scherpen recently awarded a digital Proof of Competence to Alta Linsi-Baasanjav, Ellen de Bot, and Hani Bououdina for successfully completing the EQUiiP programme. This programme, developed by the Teaching Academy Groningen (TAG), provides university lecturers with the skills needed for inclusive teaching in various classrooms.
Through interactive ‘Equipping’ workshops, the participants improved their inclusive teaching practices and developed awareness of diversity in their classrooms as a resource for lesson design. After completing the workshops and submitting a portfolio, they received a Proof of Competence.
Proof of Competence, a new way of recognizing and rewarding
The Proof of Competence is a new digital certificate, issued as a verifiable digital badge. It is a pilot by the University of Groningen (UG) to explore new ways of recognizing and rewarding the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of teaching staff. The certificate contains detailed metadata, such as learning objectives, study load, and the language of the programme, and can be shared by recipients through LinkedIn and included in their CV.
About the EQUiiP programme
The EQUiiP programme supports educational developers and lecturers in improving their teaching practices for international and diverse classrooms. The programme focuses on integrating inclusive teaching methods into course design and is offered in three ways:
Participants attend five modules and are encouraged to discuss their experiences and teaching practices with fellow lecturers, while developing their skills in inclusive teaching.

Congratulations to participants
Jacquelien Scherpen: ‘Alta Linsi-Baasanjav, Ellen de Bot, and Hani Bououdina, congratulations on behalf of the UG with this special milestone! This success highlights an innovative way of recognizing and rewarding the professional development of staff members and underlines the UG’s commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching.’
