NRC Charity Awards: Vote for the Ubbo Emmius Fund
The Ubbo Emmius Fund (UEF) of the University of Groningen has been nominated for the NRC Charity Awards 2017. Between 24 July and 20 August you can vote for the UEF advertisement created by students Stefan Makkus and Eva Hendrix of the Willem de Kooning Academy.
The adverts of the participating organizations will be published in the coming weeks in NRC Handelsblad, nrc.next and nrc.nl. The winner will be announced during an award ceremony in Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam. The organizations are competing for a half-page publication in the NRC.
Ubbo Emmius Fund
The Ubbo Emmius Fund was created to raise funds and is named after the first Rector Magnificus of the UG. The Fund supports various projects , including some that contribute to healthy ageing and a sustainable world.
This campaign is designed to put ‘the university’ on the map as a good cause – not only the Ubbo Emmius Fund, but academic research and fundamental research in general. This should lead to greater brand awareness of the UEF and an increase in the number of donors. The most important aspect, however, is raising awareness. Many of the Dutch still think that academic education and research are the responsibility of the government. Indeed, government plays an important role with regard to teaching, but in research there is urgent need for extra room to manoeuvre in order to investigate new scientific fields.
NRC Charity Awards
The NRC Charity Awards were set up by NRC Media and are intended to help Dutch good causes reach their target groups. NRC works towards this goal with the Willem de Kooning Academy. Students of the Academy join forces with the participating organizations to design a campaign.
