University of Groningen joins GREEN-HET

The University of Groningen (UG) is joining GREEN-HET, a new three-year Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education project aimed at strengthening hydrogen education and expertise in Sri Lanka.

With a total budget of €800,000, GREEN-HET brings together universities from Sri Lanka and Europe to develop and implement a new Master’s programme in Hydrogen Technologies and strengthen collaboration between academia and industry.

The project will start in November 2026, with the consortium coming together for its kick-off meeting in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The University of Groningen receives approximately €92,000 and will co-lead the project’s Capacity Building activities.

At UG, the project is led by Arjen van der Meer, with Evrim Ursavas and Lorenzo Squintani involved. UG will contribute expertise in hydrogen technologies, education and regulation, support the development of the new Master’s programme, and host Sri Lankan academic staff in Groningen for training and knowledge exchange.

GREEN-HET is funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) programme.
