Science Diplomacy in the Energy Transition - Parallel session of Wind meets Gas 2026

When:Th 08-10-2026 1.45 p.m. - 3.30 p.m.Where:House of Connections, Grote Markt 21, Groningen
Wind meets Gas

This session is one of the parallel sessions - session C - of the 10th edition of Wind meets Gas, and open for staff of our university. If you would like to participate, please register by sending an email to wos rug.nl.

International cooperation is essential for addressing complex challenges such as the energy transition, but knowledge sharing does not automatically lead to impact. Through three short perspectives - on funding and science diplomacy, international cooperation, and the University of Groningen's role in translating knowledge into regional impact - the session will examine how international knowledge networks can contribute to innovation, regional development and business opportunities. An interactive discussion will invite participants to identify practical ways for universities, governments, funding organisations and industry to strengthen international networks and initiate new collaborations.

The speakers - from funding agencies, university and industry - present the topic from their perspective, followed by a panel discussion with the audience.

Wind meets Gas annually brings together more than 500 international professionals from the energy industry, government, and academia to discuss the latest developments and share knowledge on hydrogen and offshore energy. The central question during Wind meets Gas 2026 is: how can electrons and molecules contribute together to a sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy system?
