Enrolment Updates
Enrolment Update #1: Student Housing
Dear Class of 2028,
Please find the housing registration instructions for UCG students via the following link. SSH, the housing corporation that UCG works with, offers two types of contracts:
-
Campus Contracts, which do not have a fixed end date
-
Short Stay Contracts, which have a fixed duration of one year
Due to legal regulations, students with Dutch nationality are not permitted to register for a Short Stay Contract. Therefore, Campus Contracts are reserved for Dutch nationals. Please ensure you follow the instructions that apply to your situation:
-
Dutch nationality = Campus Contract
-
Non-Dutch nationality = Short Stay Contract
Please note that renting a room with SSH is not mandatory for UCG students - you are free to live wherever you prefer.
The deadline to register for a room is 15 July. After this date, we can no longer guarantee that accommodation will be available.

How to choose your LAS core elective for block 1?
You will have the opportunity to choose your first core elective by filling in this form - please make sure to do so before 15 July. Course descriptions can be found on this website. You only need to choose one core elective; your second core elective will be chosen during your first block at UCG.
In the form, you may select your top three preferences, so please think carefully about which electives interest you the most. Remember, none of the core electives require any prior knowledge of specific subjects, you are free to choose any elective you like. The form also asks for your student number, which you can find on your decision letter. Please complete this form only once, as any duplicate submissions will be removed.
Important to know: core electives are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please bear in mind that we cannot guarantee placement in your first choice, as there are only 25 seats available per course.
You will be informed which core elective you have been allocated for Block 1 when we send the final enrolment update on 5 August.
Enrolment Update #3: Meet the Staff and Caerus Introduction
Dear Class of 2028,
Thank you for reading the third enrolment update! Don't forget to check out the Class of 2028 website for an overview of the previous enrolment updates as well.
Meet the UCG Staff
To introduce themselves, some of our staff member have put together two short videos to welcome you to UCG (video 1 and video 2). You'll get to meet some of the people who will be part of your everyday life at UCG – from future lecturers to the staff who’ll support you with course planning, practical matters, and everything in between. We encourage you to take a few minutes to watch the videos – you’ll be seeing plenty of familiar faces once you arrive!
Caerus Introduction Activities
Aside from the university’s official introduction programme, our student association, Caerus, organises two fantastic events just for incoming first-year students:
Introweekend (28–30 August)
A relaxed and informal way to meet your new classmates, explore the city of Groningen, and take part in fun group activities. The weekend ends with a party at a club rented out just for UCG students.
Introcamp (10–12 October)
Once you’ve settled into life here, Caerus organises a weekend trip outside the city – think games, competitions, and parties in a countryside setting. It’s a great way to strengthen the connections you’ve started building during the first few weeks of the semester.
Details and schedules will be shared soon via the Intro Week Committee’s Instagram page. You’re also very welcome to join the Class of 2028 WhatsApp group to start getting to know your fellow students.
Don’t worry if you’re not on social media – once registration for these events opens, you’ll receive everything you need to know via email as well.
If you have any questions about the introduction activities, you can always reach out to the Caerus Introduction Week Committee via Instagram, the WhatsApp group or via email: introweek@caerus-ucg.com.
