prof. dr. N. (Nico) van Yperen

I completed High School in 1977 (Delft), and Teacher Training College in 1981 (The Hague). In 1987, I received a MSc in Psychology at the University of Groningen, and in 1990, my PhD in Psychology at Radboud University Nijmegen. In Nijmegen, I was an associate professor from 1990 to 1994. In 1994, I returned to the University of Groningen for a position as associate professor (from 2003 full professor). Currently, I am professor of Sport & Performance Psychology, involved in the Expertise Center for Talent Development, MSc program Talent Development & Creativity, and the general board of the Sport Science & Innovation Groningen.
 

Broadly speaking, my interests are the mental aspects of sport and performance, and achievement motivation and talent development in particular, see also sportscience.blog (in Dutch).
