Modern history and international relations  of East Asia ( in particular related to Japan); history and historiography of colonialism, imperialism and globalisation; European political culture and political history ( 19th-21st century) with special attention to the role of the press.

Member of the Subject Area Group of History in the innovative and highly profiled feasibility study Measuring and Comparing Achievements of Learning Outcomes in Higher Education in Europe (CALOHEE). And its successor CALOHEE 2, (2020-2022) The study is co-financed in the framework of the EU Erasmus+ Action Forward-Looking Cooperation Projects and includes nearly all major European HE associations and networks and 75 Higher Education institutions, covering 5 disciplinary fields
