Jaap Wieringa is Department Chair and Professor of Research Methods in Business in the Department of Marketing at the University of Groningen. A multi-award-winning teacher, he has ranked among the faculty’s top instructors for two decades and received the Best Teacher of the Year (FEB) award in 2009, 2010 and 2019, as well as the University of Groningen Best Teacher (web-prize) in 2011.

His research appears in leading journals, including Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Interactive Marketing, Journal of Retailing, Marketing Letters, Health Economics, Journal of Service Research, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and International Journal of Forecasting. He has successfully supervised twelve PhD theses and currently supervises three PhD candidates.

Jaap is Associate Editor at the International Journal of Research in Marketing and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Interactive Marketing. He served on ERC panels in 2019, 2021, and 2023, sits on the EMAC Board of Directors as VP Conferences, and is a board member of the Dutch Data and Insights Network.

He co-authored several books, including "Modeling Markets", "Advanced Methods for Modeling Markets" and "Creating Value with Data Analytics in Marketing". Earlier in his career, he led SPC and Six Sigma implementations at organizations such as DAF Trucks (PACCAR), General Electric, Sara Lee|DE, and Hollandse Signaal Apparaten, with related work published in Journal of Chemometrics and Quality and Reliability Engineering International.

Current interests: Data Science, Marketing Analytics, Econometrics, Marketing Model Building, Machine Learning & AI, Time-Series Analysis, State-Space Modeling, Kalman Filtering, Diffusion Modeling, Database Marketing, Privacy, Pharmaceutical Marketing, Statistical Quality Control, and Six Sigma.
