Mooiedingenmakers
Mooiedingenmakers is a collective of creatives from the Northern Netherlands. Freelance creatives can become members of this organization, through which they receive support in making more connections. In addition, they are linked to projects. From copywriters to musicians, as well as event managers and designers, all are part of this unique group of makers.
For Mooiedingenmakers, the students Eva (19), Floor (20), Laura (21), Luna (20), Marieke (19), and Sabijn (22) created a marketing plan. The aim of the plan was to explore how Mooiedingenmakers can grow its number of members. They want to offer a large network—one that is also representative of creative freelancers in the north of the Netherlands. To achieve this, we started with an analysis of the organization. It was also important to understand the size of the creative sector in Northern Netherlands. This helped determine which artistic disciplines Mooiedingenmakers could focus on more to build a representative network. We based this on figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). From there, we provided recommendations on how the organization can expand and innovate. These include advice on location, social media, marketing, and more. Think of making event locations more diverse, and reorganizing social media by creating a clearer and more consistent line of communication. It is also important to focus on their role as a mediator and to make use of their position between freelancers and potential companies or assignments. Especially this last point is crucial and can play a bigger role within the network in the north.
We found it fun and educational to work with and for a real organization. This gave us valuable insight into how a business operates behind the scenes. The possibility that our ideas might actually be implemented makes it even more rewarding. We hope Mooiedingenmakers will benefit from our work, but regardless, we have learned a great deal.
