Regular procedure
Please note: If you have any questions about the UTQ, you can always contact team Educational Staff Development (docentprofessionalisering rug.nl).
Step 1: Apply for the UTQ trajectory
It is important to apply for the UTQ via the online registration form. This form contains questions about your educational experience in Higher Education and if you've joined other didactical training or qualification programmes.
After receiving the form, you will receive instructions about how to proceed by email within 1 month. You will also be added to the University Teaching Qualification course in Brightspace.
Step 2: Choose a date for the UTQ kick-off session
The trajectory starts with an online UTQ kick-off session (1,5 hours). During this session, you'll meet other teachers who are starting their UTQ trajectory and we'll discuss the elementary principles of the UTQ programme. Furthermore, you'll work on your personal UTQ Action Plan. The only option in 2025 is:
-
Thursday 23 January 2025 (10.00-11.30)
Step 3: Intake meeting with UTQ Teaching Coach
During the UTQ trajectory, there is one educational advisor whom you can contact with all your questions, to schedule an observation and to discuss your progress and development. After the kick-off, a meeting will be scheduled to meet your UTQ Teaching Coach and to discuss your UTQ Action Plan.
Step 4: Enroll in the UTQ modules
After the UTQ Kick-off session, you'll start with the different UTQ modules. Do not forget to register in time for the UTQ modules (after the intake meeting with your teaching coach).
Each UTQ module consists of 2 half-day workshops and reflective UTQ assignments. All UTQ workshops are on-site (at the Zernike Campus). All materials are available on Brightspace.
Step 5: Final Reflection and Final Meeting
Throughout the program, your individual Action Plan and reflective assignments from the modules (such as teaching observations, student evaluations, et cetera) will be collected in Brightspace. Concluding your UTQ trajectory, you will have a mandatory final meeting with your Teaching Coach and, if possible, your Line Manager. During this meeting, you will present what you have learning during the UTQ trajectory and how it influences your Teaching Philosophy.
Step 6: UTQ certificate ceremony
After the Final Meeting, you have formally finished your UTQ and will receive a certificate at one of our festive UTQ certificate ceremonies. These events are held throughout the year and you will receive an invitation after completing the UTQ.
Upcoming UTQ certificate ceremonies are listed in our events calendar on the ESI homepage.
