I was born in Lima (Peru) and grew up in Aruba, which is part of the Dutch Kingdom. I’m currently studying chemistry (Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modeling (EM) track). The more I dive into chemistry the more I'm fascinated by its ultimate goal: to manipulate materials at an atomic level. It's basically rational magic. I completed my bachelors with a research project in the polymer chemistry group with prof. Katja Loos (ZIAM). The research focus in this groups is interesting because it deals with both green (organic) synthesis and nanoscience. I like to keep busy and I have different interests. Which is why I am also an active member of 'De Chemische Binding' study association and the student faction of the Programme Committee of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

Here at Science LinX my tasks consist of writing articles, managing the website’s content, and handling the social media channels. I think this is a great way to practice explaining science to a general audience. Science can be very complicated and full with complex theories and mathematical models. It's very easy to start talking about a topic as if everyone is at your expertise level. However, many of these topics are fundamental and should be known to a wider audience. I think the intersection of society and science is important in driving an educated debate about societal issues. Writing articles and diving into the world of marketing have definitely shaped my communication style. I'm more aware of what makes a story memorable and can practice bringing a complex story to a personal level.
