CurioUs? Citizen Science

Participate in research!

d

CurioUs? is an initiative of Science LinX, Forum Groningen and the Aletta Jacobs School of Public Health. With its activities, CurioUs? aims to encourage curious northerners to get involved with science and technology in order to map out and even improve their own living environment. Among other things, CurioUs? organizes measuring campaigns around themes such as fine dust, light pollution and heat stress. CurioUs? has also opened the first measurement-o-theek in the Netherlands, a lending library for measuring instruments. Read more about the meet-o-theek and the measurement campaigns.

Want to start your own research project?

Do you have a project of interest to the general public? One where curious Northerners conduct research in their own living environment or on their health? Could you use some help from the region? Then contact Anouk Marsman, CurioUs project leader.

Checklist CurioUs' Citizen Science measuring campaigns:

  • The research is interesting and relevant to a broad and diverse audience, with no scientific experience;
  • The participant measures in their living environment or on their health;
  • The participant collects data themselves or uses a measuring device;
  • The measurement project and any measuring equipment are simple and accessible;
  • The measurement project contributes to existing research;
  • The research is geographically relevant (See CurioUs map)

CurioUs? is made possible in part by financial support from the Pica Foundation.
