Abstact:

The atom chip has been maturing for 20 years now. So much so, that two chips have already been launched into space.

It enables a high level of control over magnetic, electric and light fields, in magnitude, time and space.

To illustrate its capabilities, I will describe several recent experiments, such as atom and clock interferometry.

I will then conclude with some examples of how the atom chip may be used for exotic physics searches.
