Global Politics of Disease
Our research focuses on the politics and power relations involved in the (global) health field. We approach diseases not simply as biomedical problems but as the outcome of socio-political interactions including conflict, (agri-)industrialisation and other political economies, urbanization, and modern lifestyles. The Political Ecologies of Disease (PED) research unit run by Nadine Voelkner (International Relations) is based here.
Recently, a collective piece titled Politics in the time of COVID was published involving several International Relations scholars of the Faculty including Saliha Metinsoy , Lukas Linsi , Malcolm Campbell-Verduyn , Gerda van Roozendaal , Clara Eggers , and Nadine Voelkner.
