Marcel Broersma Interim Director of ICOG

From 1 October 2019 to 1 March 2020, Prof. Dr. Marcel Broersma will be interim director of ICOG. He is taking over from Prof. Dr. Raingard Esser, who took up the post of GSH director in July of this year. Broersma will also remain director of the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies.

Broersma's research focuses on the current and historical transformation of journalism, changing media use, social media and digital humanities. He received multiple national and international research grants among which a VIDI-grant and an NWO-Topsector grant. He co-directs the research line "Citizenship and Democracy" in the VSNU-agenda The Digital Society and chairs the boards of the Dutch Research School for Media Studies (RMeS).
