Joop Koopmans appointed as member of Fryske Akademy

Last Friday, 14 September, historian Joop Koopmans in the Faculty of Arts, University of Groningen was appointed as a member of the Fryske Akademy (Frisian Academy) in Leeuwarden, Frisia. He deserves this designation to, among other things, his publications in the field of (early modern) Frisian history, his contribution to the Nieuwe Encyclopedie van Fryslân (New Encyclopedia of Frisia), his achievements as chair of the editorial board of the annual De Vrije Fries (published by the Royal Frisian Society for HIstory and Culture, and the Frisian Academy), and his jury memberships concerning the Dr. Joast Halbertsma price (province of Frielsand) and the Eekhoff price (Leeuwarden municipality).
