Consultative bodies

The Groningen Association for PhD students

The Groningen Organisation for PhD Education and Recreation ( GOPHER) is the PhD organization of the University of Groningen, providing a platform for PhD candidates to develop themselves, to network and to get to know fellow PhD candidates through educational and recreational events. Every PhD candidate is welcome to participate in GOPHER’s events and to suggest and organize new events. If you wish to get involved or just join the events, visit the website.

PhD students Network The Netherlands

The aim of the PhD students Network The Netherlands (Dutch: Promovendi Netwerk Nederland, PNN) is to detect general problems with regard to PhD-related issues. All the local PhD candidates’ consultative bodies of Dutch universities are represented in the PNN. For the University of Groningen, the Groningen Graduate Interest Network (GRIN) is the political branch of GOPHER and is represented in the PNN.

BSS PhD council

The aim of the BSS PhD council is

  • to represent all PhD students from the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences (BSS) at the University of Groningen regarding:
    a) our position within the Graduate School of Behavioural and Social Sciences
    b) our position outside our faculty, for example in relation to the Federation of Graduate Schools and GRIN.
  • to keep track of the needs and problems BSS PhD students encounter within our faculty.
  • to share important updates and to stimulate information sharing among BSS PhD students in general
  • to encourage interdisciplinary contact by the organization of both social and educational events (e.g., BSS PhD Day).

Please have a look at more information about the BSS PhD Council and contact details.
