On 18 June 2019 Olha Cherednychenko moderated the session on responsible lending and presented the findings from her research on this topic for the European Parliament and the European Commission at the international conference on 'Protecting Consumers Taking Credit in the Digital Era: Can We Do Better?' held in Brussels in the context of the revision of the 2008 EU Consumer Credit Directive. The conference was jointly organised by the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), the European Credit Research Institute (ECRI), and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers. It brought together senior practitioners, distinguished academics, high-level officials, and influential representatives from consumer associations to discuss the effectiveness of the existing rules on consumer credit and possible improvements to the Consumer Credit Directive. For more information, see the ECRI-CEPS Newsletter, with, among others, the contribution by Olha Cherednychenko.
