A common question received from many prospective students for our International and European Law LLB programme is whether or not they can do an internship during their studies. As you will see when looking at the schedule of courses for the LLB programme, there is no internship included within the curriculum. This means the Faculty does not provide or require an internship as part of the degree programme. Nevertheless, many of our LLB students are quite motivated individuals and still pursue (and obtain) an internship through their own initiative, external to the programme, and on their own time; internships can be impressive on a student CV, demonstrating workplace experience that relates to one's field of study. Internships are often done in the Summer months between academic years or immediately after graduation. Sometimes students will continue on to an LLM programme after the LLB, and then pursue an internship after graduating with their LLM degree.  Here are just a few examples of where previous LLB students have completed internships:

The decision to pursue an internship is ultimately up to an individual student. However, it is always important for students to keep in mind their time and study commitments to the LLB programme, as external activities do not excuse a students own responsibility for progressing with, and completing,  their studies. You can read another blog post from a previous LLB graduate, Cristiana, about her decision to pursue an internship here.

Students interested in internships can contact Career Services Law to inquire about current internship opportunities known about.  If you'd like to know more about career prospects for graduates of the LLB programme, please read here.

Prospective students that would like to know more about the LLB programme in International and European Law can contact the Faculty through our information request form, and are welcome to join us for any of our Open Day presentations that are held throughout the year.
