Adi Stoykova receives research grant from the Max Planck Institute for the use of AI in criminal law

Assistant Professor Radina (Adi) Stoykova has been awarded a research scholarship by Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security & Law in Freiburg.
From September to November shewill join the research group on Algorithmic Profiling and Automated Decision-Making in Criminal Justice, led by Prof. Sabine Gless to examine issues of fair trial in large-scale, AI-assisted criminal investigations.
Max Planck Institute
The Max-Planck-Gesellschaft is named after the famous German physicist and Nobel Prize winner Max Planck (1858-1947). It is an independent organisation for scientific research consisting of 80 research institutes where scientists can devote their time full-time to research.
Veni grant
In July, Stoykova received a Veni grant from the NWO research organisation to spend the next three years investigating the reliability of AI systems across various investigative scenarios and identifies potential risks to individual rights.
