Annalies Outhuijse presented on effective public enforcement of cartel agreements in Cape Town
PhD Researcher Annalies Outhuijse presented her research ‘effective public enforcement of anti-competitive agreements’ at the 10th Annual conference on Competition Law, Economics and Policy in Cape Town.
The Competition Commission, Competition Tribunal and the University of Cape Town organized the Annual conference on Competition Law, Economics and Policy this year for the tenth time. This year’s conference discussed the topic ‘the role of Competition Policy on Economic Growth’. As part of the debates on the topic, the conference also took stock of the effectiveness of competition enforcement. The objective of the conference was to bring together international scholars and practitioners, both lawyers and economists, to debate relevant issues within this topic.
Annalies Outhuijse presented her research on the effective public enforcement of anti-competitive agreements in the Netherlands. Next to an introduction to the Dutch enforcement of competition law, she demonstrated which deficiencies occur in the Dutch enforcement of anti-competitive agreements, answered the question whether these deficiencies also occur in other European Member States and South Africa and showed how these deficiencies affect the effective enforcement of anti-competitive agreements.
