Invitation to the Lecture of:

Prof. Peter L. Lindseth, Olimpiad S. Ioffe Professor of International and Comparative Law and Director, International Programs at University of Connecticut Law School will deliver a seminar lecture entitled: 'European Integration as Administrative Governance and Demoi-cracy'.

Prof. Lindseth is one of the leading theorists of European Administrative Law and having him in Groningen is a huge honour for our whole academic community: all the interested students and staff members are welcome. The lecture is organised at part of Prof. Dimitry Kochenov's EU Constitutional and Institutional Law seminar.

About the speaker

Peter Lindseth’s expertise lies at the intersection of comparative administrative law, European integration, international economic law, and the legal history of public governance. Prof. Lindseth develops new insights into the fields of historical institutionalism, principal-agent theory, and governance beyond the state with implications well beyond the case of European integration in which he specializes.

Much sought-after on both sides of the Atlantic, Professor Lindseth is currently serving as Visiting Professor in the Law and History of European Integration at Queen Mary, University of London, and as a Senior Emile Noël Fellow at New York University School of Law.  Professor Lindseth has previously served as a visiting professor at Yale, Princeton, Tilburg (as Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Visiting Professor), as well as at the Université Panthéon-Assas Paris II, and the Université d'Aix-Marseille III. He has also served as a Daimler Fellow at the American Academy in Berlin, a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, a Chatauebriand Fellow at the Conseil d’Etat in Paris, and a Stipendiat at the Max Planck Institute for European Legal History in Frankfurt.

Professor Lindseth is the founding chair of the European Law Section of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS) and the editor of the section’s new blog, europaeus|law. Professor Lindseth came to UConn from Columbia Law School, where he was associate director of the European Legal Studies Center, a teaching fellow (associate-in-law) and managing editor of The Columbia Journal of European Law. He holds a B.A. and J.D. from Cornell and a Ph.D. in European history from Columbia.
