I am often confronted with the question whether I would decide to come back to Groningen if I had to choose a university again. After spending here nearly two years, I can say that I would come back to Groningen and the International and European Law programme over and over again. When I was applying to the universities, the main factors in choosing the institution were its academic reputation, quality of the study programme and the city in which the university is based. Since the University of Groningen is among the top universities in Europe and has a very old academic tradition, this criterion was certainly met. The International and European Law programme is a unique, English-language LLB programme, which offers its students very challenging and interesting academic standards. There are practically no other or very few programmes of International and European Law that are fully taught in English. The programme is relatively new; however, every organizational and academic standard is of the highest quality. Both the university and the city are almost perfect for internationally oriented students. I always wanted to be a lawyer operating internationally and choosing the University of Groningen is the best first step in achieving my goal, because this particular LLB degree offers very diverse opportunities to students. Finally, I should also mention the city itself. It is impossible not to fall in love with Groningen when you are a student. With its dynamic lifestyle and diverse facilities, Groningen is thé place to live in.
