Dual degree option with UGM (Indonesia)

The Faculty of Law offers a dual degree option with the Faculty of Law of Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta (Indonesia) for applicants to our LLB International and European Law. In this option, you will study part of the curriculum at the University of Groningen (UG) and part at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM).
Dual degree option outline
The dual degree option takes four years to complete. Students start their studies in Groningen or in Yogyakarta. When starting in Yogyakarta, students will participate in the full first year of the International Undergraduate Programme at UGM, then come to Groningen for two years and they return to Indonesia to finish their fourth year at UGM.
Students starting in Groningen will be in Groningen the first two years and then move to Yogyakarta for two years to complete the dual degree at UGM.

The Bachelor’s thesis is registered differently at both Institutions, but will be the same, joint product. Students therefore need to be registered as a full-time student at the UG in the second semester of the final year of their dual degree.

Below you can find all information with regard to the practicalities of the dual degree with UGM.
Degrees awarded
On successful completion of the dual degree option, you will receive two Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degrees:
-
an LLB in International and European Law from the University of Groningen, and
-
a Sarjana Hukum (S1) degree from Universitas Gadjah Mada.
Application and admission
Admission requirements
You must meet the admission requriemetns for both the University of Groningen and Universitas Gadjah Mada. Each school applies the same entry requiremetns to dual degree students as applicants seeking only one degree. Please see the LLB International and European Law at the University of Groningen or the International Undergraduate Programme at Universitas Gadjah Mada respectively to review those requirements.
Application
You apply either through Universitas Gadjah Mada (when starting in Yogyakarta) or the University of Groningen (when starting in Groningen). The application and admission process is handled by the university where you will start this dual degree. For more information on how to apply at the University of Groningen, please check this page.
After nomination
At the end of the first year in Yogyakarta or the second year in Groningen, your actual transfer to the partner university will be arranged for.
As soon as you are nominated by Universitas Gadjah Mada for participation in the dual degree with Groningen, you need to register in Studielink for the LLB International and European Law. As dual degree student you need to choose 'higher year registration' in Studielink.

Visa and other costs
Visa
Please note that you might have to apply for visas to study in the Netherlands and/or Indonesia. This will depend on your nationality. Visa costs are not included in the tuition fee.
Other costs
All costs and arrangements for travel, visas, insurance, and living expenses are the responsibility of the student.
