Rubicon grant for Ayhan Aksu

25 July 2023
Dr Ayhan Aksu

Dr Ayhan Aksu has received a Rubicon grant for his research on the relationships between Jews and Nabataeans (an early Arab group) in the ancient Levant. By researching the Nabataean Dead Sea Scrolls, he hopes to shed new light on how these communities related to each other. This grant will enable him to spend the next two years conducting research at the Catholic University of Leuven.

About the Rubicon grant

For many researchers, experience abroad is an important step in their career. The Rubicon programme gives young, highly promising researchers the opportunity to gain international experience. Fifteen recently graduated scholars (among them five UG researchers) will conduct research at foreign research institutes with Rubicon funding from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and ZorgOnderzoek Nederland Medische Wetenschappen (ZonMw).

See this news article for more information about the other UG PhD graduates who received a grant.
