Research Master's programme Theology & Religious Studies 'top programme'

The Research Master's programme Theology & Religious Studies of the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the University of Groningen is marked as 'top programme' by the Higher Education Guide Masters. Only excellent programmes that score 76 points or more are marked 'top programme'. The degree programme is considered to be the best Master's programme in Theology & Religious Studies in The Netherlands. It is also the highest scoring Research Master's programme within the field of Humanities in the Netherlands.

The several one-year tracks of the Master's programme Theology & Religious Studies are also considered to be the best in the field, just like last year. Only if you want to do a specialized one-year master's programme in theology, you are better of at the Protestant Theological University (Groningen and Amsterdam) and the Theological University Kampen.

Top Programmes

In October 2015, the Bachelor’s degree programme in Theology of the University of Groningen was also assessed as the best in the Netherlands by the Higher Education Guide for Universities. This programme is awarded the predicate ‘Top Programme’ for several years now.

The Guide includes descriptions of all Higher Education Master’s programmes officially registered in the Netherlands. A quality assessment is given for most of these programmes. Some programmes are so good that the editors have marked them as ‘top programmes’. Nine of the University of Groningen Master’s programmes can call themselves top programmes: American Studies, Archaeology, Astronomy, Euroculture (European Studies), Research Master in Economics and Business, Effectiveness of Legal Arrangements (Functionaliteit van het Recht (research), Theology and Religious Studies (research), Population Studies and Nanoscience.
