Fellows in action: first results

Two Fellows have since turned their research into companies.

The Deeptech Pioneer Fellowship gave me the opportunity, time, and financial support to take an early-stage deeptech idea and seriously explore its potential as a company. Beyond the funding, the program provided valuable mentorship, a network, and an environment that helped me develop both the technology and the entrepreneurial skills needed to move forward. Today, I am continuing to build Ximplic Systems, and the foundation created during the fellowship has played an important role in getting us to where we are now.

Design automation for the future of computing

Ximplic makes AI affordable to run on everyday battery-powered devices — wearables, cameras, sensors — by doing the computation inside the memory, and licenses that technology to chip designers.

"The greatest value of the Deeptech Pioneer Fellowship for me was the possibility of spending funded time to validate and test my problem-solution fit. Through dozens of interviews with experts and industry leaders, I was able to pinpoint how and where the technology could be adopted. Working alongside the business developer team at the Business Generator Groningen was essential, as their guidance directly shaped how I framed my questions and evaluated the feedback. For researchers considering the step from the lab to a spin-out, the fellowship offers exactly what that step demands."

An advanced bioconjugation system

Enzura makes precise bioconjugation simple and cheap: one enzyme attaches a dye, handle or drug to an exact position on a protein, in a single reaction and from off-the-shelf materials.

  • Selected to pitch in Delft for the Industrial Biotech Bootcamp of Planet B.io and Biotech Booster

  • Admitted to the UG SBP Business Lab, where a Master's student team runs a first market analysis
