Pre-master guide

When do you need to follow a pre-master programme?

On the master programme webpages you can see if you are directly admissable. If you are not, you can usually follow a pre-master programme. Once you have finished your pre-master you are directly admissable to the master. Do you have questions about if you are directly admissable after checking the website? Contact our Study Advice department via

The pre-master programmes start in September and consist of 60 ECTS (1 year). Most of our master programmes have a standard pre-master programme, except for Cultural Geography and Population Studies. There is no pre-master possible for the Research Master in Spatial Sciences.

The application deadline for the pre-master programmes is August 15. For Real Estate Studies there is a selection procedure for the pre-master programme. There are 12 places available. The application deadline is May 1st.

See below the steps to take if you are interested in a pre-master as a student with a Dutch previous education and a student with an international previous education.
