Bachelor Human Geography and Planning

Zofia Machowska

Hi! My name is Zofia, and I have recently graduated from the Human Geography and Planning programme and have just started the Society, Sustainability and Planning Master's programme offered by our faculty.

I chose HGP because I am fascinated by urban and social dynamics as well as the challenges that come with them. Looking back at my studies, I am very happy with my choice, and I enjoyed the wide range of HGP courses, especially their interdisciplinary approach.

As a student ambassador, I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, the faculty, the university, or studying in Groningen, so feel free to reach out!

Isabelle de Groot

Hey, my name is Isabelle! I’m 22 years old and from the Hague, but have lived in several other countries too. I’m a fifth year student of our Faculty, where I love being active at the Faculty Association Ibn Battuta!

I have a deep appreciation for Human Geography and Planning and everything that comes with it! There's so much opportunity to explore what you want to know about the world, both through your courses and your minor. If you're as intrigued by the Fieldwork Abroad and Exchange as I was, you've come to the right place!

Bachelor Spatial Planning and Design

Damian de Vries

Hello! I am Damian and I have just finished my bachelor in Spatial Planning and Design. Currently I’m enrolled in the spatial sciences research master in our faculty.

As one of this year's Student Ambassadors I am happy to help answer any questions you may have about our program (such as what exactly is the difference between Spatial Planning and Human Geography or when would I choose this study or the one in Utrecht) or about studying in general. So, if there is anything you’ve wanted to know about our study, faculty or university, do not hesitate to send an email!

Tristan Pel

Hi! My name is Tristan Pel. I am 23 years old, from Leeuwarden, but currently living happily in the beautiful city of Groningen! I am a fifth-year student at our Faculty and am working on finishing the Spatial Planning and Design programme. I would call myself a very active student with quite some experience in extracurricular activities, such as being on several committees of the Faculty Association Ibn Battuta and doing a board year there. Currently, I am working at the Faculty as a Student Assessor, where I represent the students of the Faculty. All these experiences have helped me gain knowledge about the University and the Faculty, and they have given me a good view of what you can achieve after finishing one of the programmes at our Faculty.

I will be very happy to answer all your questions, have a conversation about being a student in our Faculty, and tell you what it is like to live in Groningen!
