Bachelor Human Geography and Planning

Zofia Machowska

Hi! My name is Zofia, and I am currently in my third year of the Human Geography and Planning programme.

I chose HGP because I am fascinated by urban and social dynamics as well as the challenges that come with them. So far, I have been very happy with my choice, and I have been enjoying the wide range of courses offered by our faculty, especially their interdisciplinary approach. In addition to my Bachelor’s, I’m also part of the Honours College.

As a student ambassador, I would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, the faculty, the university or studying in Groningen, so feel free to reach out!

Zhamilya Ramazanova

Hey! I’m Zhamilya, a third-year BSc Human Geography and Planning student from Kazakhstan. I’m adventurous and curious about how people connect with their surroundings, whether through the social construction of space, a sense of belonging, or the relationships between communities and their environment. That curiosity is one of the main reasons I chose this programme.

Human Geography is such a fascinating field with so many opportunities, and I’m really excited to share the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained so far. Coming from an international background, I also know how overwhelming it can feel to move away from home and start fresh in a new country. But you’re not alone in this, so if you ever have questions about the programme, courses, or just life in Groningen, feel free to reach out!

Bachelor Spatial Planning and Design

Damian de Vries

Hello! I am Damian and I am currently in my third year of the Spatial Planning and Design Bachelor.

As one of this year's Student Ambassadors I am happy to help answer any questions you may have about our program (like what is the difference between Spatial Planning and Human Geography or why study this programme and not one in Utrecht for example) or about studying in general. Tristan Pel

Hi everyone! My name is Tristan Pel. I am 22 years old, from Leeuwarden, but currently living happily in the beautiful city of Groningen! I am a fourth-year student at our Faculty and am working on finishing the Spatial Planning and Design programme. I would call myself a very active student with quite some experience in extracurricular activities, such as being on several committees of the Faculty Association and doing a board year there. I have also worked at multiple places in the Faculty, and right now I am on the board of Foundation Geo Promotion. All these experiences have helped me gain knowledge about the University and the Faculty, and they have given me a good view of what you can achieve after finishing one of the programmes at our Faculty.

I will be very happy to answer all your questions, have a conversation about being a student in our Faculty, and tell you what it is like to live in Groningen!
