Career Day 2026

Hey philosophy student! Ever thought about life after your philosophy studies?Do you want to spread your wings within academia or outside?

Whether or not you’re already thinking about your future career, come to the Philosophy Career Day of 18 March! You can learn what you can contribute to the academic or non-academic job markets during the Career Services workshops, or join us for a ‘borrel’ and inspiring career talks during the evening programme. On 18 March 2026 STUFF and the Philosophy Faculty are pleased to host the annual Career Day.

Location: at the faculty, Oude Boteringestraat 52.

Round Table Event for Master Students

Time: 15:00-16:00

Location: Faculty of Philosophy (Oude Boteringestraat 52), room Alfa

Description: Join us for an informal conversation with Sjoerd Griffioen (Philosophy career officer) and Marc Pauly (coordinator MA Philosophy and internships) about career opportunities after obtaining your Masters’ degree. We will discuss tips and tricks, and there will be plenty of room for questions or sharing your experiences. This event is open to all Philosophy Master students (including ReMa), no registration required.

Speaker information:

Hannah Laurens is an assistant professor at the RUG who specialises in ancient and early modern philosophy. Her work focuses on Aristotle's account of the intellect and Spinoza's understanding of salvation.

Ymko Braaksma did his PhD on R.G. Collingwood and classical pragmatism at the faculty of philosophy, after first completing the research master. He currently works as a researcher and project manager at Planbureau Fryslân.

Wim van der Molen is an educational coordinator and ethicist at the University Medical Center Groningen, working across the undergraduate and graduate medical curricula. His work focuses on professional development, moral deliberation, and the integration of medical ethics into medical education.
