Dennis Veltrop appointed as Professor of Corporate Governance and Behavior

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is pleased to announce that Dennis Veltrop has been appointed as Professor of Corporate Governance and Behavior. The chair is situated within the Department of Accounting and Auditing.
Veltrop earned his PhD at FEB in 2012 and started as an assistant professor in 2014. He has since held various roles at FEB and was recently appointed co-director of the Centre of Expertise In the LEAD, which focuses on leadership and governance in organizations. His research lies at the intersection of corporate governance, leadership, and behavior.
In particular, his work focuses on boards of directors and executive leadership, including boardroom dynamics, interactions between management and (supervisory) boards, as well as leadership at the top of organizations. He studies how these dynamics influence decision-making and organizational effectiveness.
Strong link between science and practice
Before entering academia, Veltrop worked as an auditor. He is also co-founder of BoardResearch.org, a foundation dedicated to strengthening the quality of governance and oversight and to advancing academic research on boardroom dynamics. He is regularly involved in evaluations of supervisory boards.
Building on this work, Veltrop will further develop research and teaching on corporate governance and behavior, focusing on interactions among executives, boards and other governance actors. As part of his responsibilities he will supervise PhD candidates and develop collaborations with academic and societal partners.
Reflecting on his new role, Veltrop says: “It continues to fascinate me how governance works in practice: how people interact, challenge one another and make decisions at the top of organizations. I look forward to developing this research further with my colleagues and connecting it to the questions that executives and supervisory directors face in their work.”
