Anna Minasyan appointed as scientific advisory board member of the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies

Associate Professor Anna Minasyan has been appointed to the scientific advisory board of the Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies. Her appointment is initially for four years.
The Leibniz Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) is one of Germany’s leading non-university research institutions, focusing on the region. The IOS’ main goal is to understand Eastern and Southeast Europe by creating, preserving, and communicating knowledge. The IOS conducts internationally oriented research and provides essential infrastructure services for research. The institute’s staff includes historians, economists, and political scientists with a particular interest in the former Soviet Union and Southeast Europe. As a result of Russia’s war of aggression, the IOS has expanded its activities in Ukraine, both in terms of its research and through events and media work.
Minasyan is an associate professor within FEB’s Department of Global Economics & Management. Her primary areas of expertise are in the field of political economy of development, focusing on foreign aid, gender, conflict, and institutions. She has published articles on these topics in various international journals. Before joining the University of Groningen as an assistant professor in 2017, she was a postdoctoral researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Göttingen, where she also obtained her PhD in 2016. Apart from her positions as associate professor and IOS scientific board member, Minasyan is also a member of the German Development Economics Standing Committee and an editorial board member of the Economic Relations and Labor Review, a peer-reviewed academic journal that covers the fields of economics, labor relations, and policy.
Minasyan is honored to be appointed as a member of the scientific advisory board of IOS. “I am honored to join the scientific advisory board of IOS and look forward to collaboration and research exchange on Eastern and Southeast Europe, and to fostering academic links between IOS and the University of Groningen.”
