Weining Wang appointed as Professor of Econometrics
The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) is pleased to announce that Dr. Weining Wang has been appointed as Professor of Econometrics. The chair is situated within the Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance.
Before joining FEB, Weining Wang was Professor of Financial Econometrics at York University in the United Kingdom since 2020. Prior to that, Wang was Associate Professor (with tenure) in Econometrics at City University of London. She was also junior professor at the Humboldt University of Berlin for many years, where she obtained her PhD degree in 2012.
Wang’s research focuses on financial and theoretical econometrics. Her research output is of high quality, with papers in journals such as Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Journal of Econometrics, Annals of Statistics and Journal of the American Statistical Association. Apart from being a very productive researcher with a high output, she has also been successful in obtaining several large research grants. Wang furthermore has wide experience in teaching econometrics, statistics, micro-econometrics, finance and programming.
As professor of Econometrics, Wang will play a central role in the Department of Economics, Econometrics and Finance (EEF). She will contribute to the research program of EEF and play a prominent role in stimulating research collaborations with adjacent fields and research institutes in the faculty. Apart from that, Wang will contribute to the department’s two study programs that have a special focus on Econometrics: the bachelor program in Econometrics and Operations Research (EOR), and the master program in Econometrics, Operations Research, and Actuarial Studies (EORAS). This includes lecturing, the supervision of bachelor’s and master’s theses and PhD’s and contributing to course development.
