The three ‘top programmes’ at FEB, according to Higher Education Guide Masters 2017
Our MSc programmes EORAS (Econometrics, Operations & Actuarial Studies), Marketing and the Research Master in Economics and Business were awarded the qualification ‘Top Rated Programme’ in the Higher Education Guide (“Keuzegids masters 2017”). Remarkable was that students assessed the workload of EORAS as very well distributed and the lecturers of Marketing as very enthusiastic.
Three FEB Master programmes in total received the honorary predicate. In addition, FEB also has two programmes that score the highest in their category. These are the MSc Supply Chain Management and the MSc Economics. In total four FEB master programmes ranked first in their category. On top of that a total of eight Masters ranked among the top 3 in their categories.
Econometrics, Operations & AS (EORAS)
The highest scoring FEB master is EORAS with a total score of 82 out of 100. This is also the master that has the largest increase in score since last year (70). The editorial staff of the Higher Education Guide states that the Master programme EORAS in Groningen is top-notch: 'Groningen distributes the workload of the programme in a better way than the other programmes.' Overall, the students assessed the contact hours, level of practical orientation and facilities as good and the content, lectures, academic development and communication as very good.
Marketing
The Marketing master received a total score of 76 out of 100. This is eight points higher than last year, which ranks this programme as the highest in its category. The Higher Education Guide states that the programme scores positive on almost every aspect. In addition they mention that ‘the students are very enthusiastic about the lecturers.’ Overall, the students assessed the content, academic development, level of practical orientation, study load, communication and facilities as good and the lectures as very good.
Research Master in Economics and Business
The Research Master in Economics and Business was awarded a score of 76 out of 100. The master is commended for being strongly interwoven. Students appreciate the variety of the different forms of work and they praise the expertise and good feedback of their lecturers. Overall, the students assessed the content, communication and facilities as good and the lectures and academic development as very good.
Higher Education Guide
The Higher Education Guide 2017 briefly describes all Dutch master’s programmes. Most of them also receive a quality qualification, based on student assessments and the assessment of the NVAO, an accreditation organization. Some programmes are so good that the editors have marked them as ‘top programmes’.
University of Groningen as a whole
‘In recent years, the RUG has been receiving better assessments on average than the universities in the Randstad region in the west of the country,’ according to the Guide; ‘Students in Groningen evaluate their programmes as challenging and well organized slightly higher than students elsewhere.’ The University of Groningen comes second in the ranking of broad-based, traditional universities.
