Faculty of Economics and Business achieves 3-year EQUIS re-accreditation

The European accreditation institution EFMD has just announced that the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the University of Groningen has been awarded the prestigious EQUIS accreditation for an additional 3 years. This re-accreditation was achieved following an extensive and rigorous evaluation of the Faculty by the EQUIS Peer Review Team in September.
The initial EQUIS accreditation was awarded in 2014 and it is credit to the hard work of FEB’s staff and students that they have been able to maintain an impeccable standard and achieve re-accreditation. FEB was also re-awarded AACSB accreditation just last year. The combination of both the EQUIS and AACSB accreditations is only reserved for the global top 1% of business schools.
‘A great symbol of the Faculty’s continued success and high quality performance’
Dean of the Faculty Professor Herman de Jong was delighted to hear the news: “We are so proud to have had our EQUIS accreditation extended. It is a great symbol of the Faculty’s continued success and high quality performance. It is particularly welcomed as the key focuses for the accreditation are precisely our current strategic goals, encouraging us to keep striving for excellence in these areas.”
The EQUIS committee produces a report highlighting their findings during the visit. This resulted in FEB receiving some great feedback. Key areas of praise included the overall quality of the Faculty, its reputation within the Dutch Higher Education market and its approach to managing research. The EQUIS accreditation relies on continuous improvement and is monitored on a yearly basis via progress reports submitted to the accreditation committees. This enables FEB to continuously develop and improve and ensures the faculty remains focused on delivering the best for its staff and students.
EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS)
The EFMD Quality Improvement System is a school accreditation system. It specialises in higher education institutions of management and business administration, run by the European Foundation for Management Development. The accreditation is awarded to business schools based on general quality. Important themes for EQUIS are Internationalisation, Corporate Connections, and Ethics, Responsibility and Sustainability.
