Aard Groen professor of Entrepreneurship and Valorisation
Prof. dr. Aard Groen has been appointed as professor of Entrepreneurship and Valorisation at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen. This is a double position with a similar chair at the University of Twente, which contributes to the collaboration between the North-Eastern Universities in the Netherlands , such as Groningen, Twente, Radboud Nijmegen and Wageningen University.
CVO
The chair Entrepreneurship and Valorisation is within the Department of Innovation Management and Strategy of the Faculty of Economics and Business. Professor Groen’s main responsibility is to have a leading role in the “Centrum voor Valorisatie en Ondernemerschap Groningen (CVO)” , and to acquire funding that is complementary to the activities of the CVO. Other responsibilities include research, teaching and active business support of entrepreneurial activity.
Professor Groen acquired his PhD at the former Faculty of Management & Organisation at our university in 1993. Since 2001, Aard Groen is founder and scientific director of NIKOS, the Netherlands Institute for Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship at the University of Twente, and since 2007 he is professor of Innovative Entrepreneurship at that same institute .
Knowledge intensive entrepreneurship
Groen’s research interest is focusing on knowledge intensive entrepreneurship in networks. Therefore, he is designer and leader of Venture Lab Twente, an ambitious facility to support high tech high growth enterprises. He is one of the designers of “Competencies for Innovations”, a project aimed at the enhancement of innovation competencies in manufacturing industry, by actively working with such firms. Both types of activities will be further developed in Groningen for example in areas of health, energy, water and other knowledge intensive areas. This research will be embedded in the Innovation and Organization research programme of the SOM research institute at the Faculty of Economics & Business of the University of Groningen.
Professor Groen is also associate editor of Technovation, the International Journal of Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Technology Management.
