Education in Future Prosperity and Sustainability
Education is a key part of the theme of future prosperity and sustainability. We aim to further develop and enhance the educational focus area, which is currently available for master programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business.
What are companies responsible for, which negative externalities are acceptable, and who is paying the price for these consequences? Recently, this discussion has changed and become more intense. The Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations are increasingly being incorporated into the strategic plans of firms while also featuring heavily in government policy worldwide.
Completing the Focus Area Future Prosperity and Sustainability gives students specialised knowledge to help them understand these emerging themes and successfully contribute to the strategic developments in this field.
Focus areas
The Focus Areas of the Faculty of Economics and Business offer master students the opportunity to deepen their personal knowledge in a relevant and exciting field in a more systematic way.
After completing one of the Focus Areas, students can get an acknowledgement of their specialised knowledge on their master diploma supplement, which creates new opportunities to position themselves in a quickly developing labour market.
Broad integration
Apart from the educational focus area, we strive to integrate the theme of future prosperity and sustainability more broadly, in an increasing number of courses in the existing MSc programs. Furthermore, we are committed to continuously developing and updating interdisciplinary, challenge-based courses that address real-life societal challenges.
The theme of theme of future prosperity and sustainability is also integrated within a number of executive courses and executive masters of the University of Groningen Business School (UGBS), such as ESG Reporting en Assurance and Duurzame Businesstransitie.
