Explanation about rankings
Rankings are used to measure and evaluate various universities to determine their overall academic performance in comparison to one another. Depending on the ranking, different factors are taken into account such as the quality of teaching, the reputation of the institutions in question among researchers and employers as well as the number of international students. Although there are also other factors which you should consider when choosing a place to study, such as student life, modern facilities and a positive academic environment, attending a high-ranking university can help you find a job on the competitive employment market. Dutch rankings
Keuzegids, the Dutch Higher Education Guide, includes descriptions of all higher education programmes officially registered in the Netherlands. The guide offers a quality assessment for most programmes based, among other, on student evaluations and reports from the NVAO.
According to the Keuzegids 2026, Global Responsibility and Leadership is the best Bachelor’s degree programme in the Netherlands—for the fifth year in a row. The degree programme, which is taught at the UG’s Campus Fryslân, received the maximum score of 100 points. The Higher Education Guide has also assigned the label of ‘Top degree programme’ to seven other Bachelor’s degree programmes at the UG. The UG as a whole is ranked third in the category of Broad-based General Universities. The Higher Education Guide states that the UG scores particularly well in interdisciplinary areas.
