Jointly taught by the Department of Teacher Education and Applied Linguistics at the University of Groningen, in cooperation with the Northern Network of TTO-Schools.
- Nienke Smit is the TTO CLIL programme coordinator. She has been an EFL teacher educator since 2005. In her PhD research she focuses on scaffolding strategies to help learners go from learning to read to reading to learn in English. Nienke thinks that Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) teaching strategies are promising and motivating for all teachers and learners.
- Jasmijn Bloemert has been working as an EFL teacher educator at the Department of Teacher Education since 2012. One of her interests is the inclusion of literature in language acquisition which is also the topic of her PhD research which she started in 2014. Jasmijn believes that in order to further develop education it is essential to cross national and cultural boarders.
- Deniz Haydar joined the Teacher Education department in 2014. Before that, she taught Biology in the Dutch curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and TTO General Science. She also has a PhD in marine ecology. Deniz thinks that literacy and science are complementary, and that students can benefit greatly from an integrated approach.
- Marjolijn Verspoor is a full professor of English Language acquisition and linguistics in the Faculty of Arts, where she has been working for almost 25 years now. She is passionate about teaching the module Teaching Methodology, which focuses on the application of the most recent insights into second language acquisition to teaching languages. She is a member of TTO school audit panels. In her research she found evidence that TTO really works.
