Sneak Peek Lecture Homes and Cars: Technologies, Citizens and the Energy Transition

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused University College Fryslan to deal with many new challenges; not only in teaching but also with regards to information events for prospective students. However, at UCF we try to take every challenge as an opportunity no matter the circumstances. Therefore, we have made use of our hybrid teaching system and opened our virtual doors to prospective students interested in the Global Responsibility & Leadership program. This week, prospective students got the unique opportunity to have a sneak peek into one of the GRL courses as part of the major Responsible Planet, namely Homes and Cars: Technologies, Citizens and the Energy Transition guided by Dr. Anne Beaulieu.
Because UCF students have the opportunity to follow their lectures in a hybrid environment, either physically or online, we provided prospective students the opportunity to join the lecture online. After an introductory session in which second-year student Koen Pouw provided some more information about the Global Responsibility & Leadership program and the course Homes and Cars: Technologies, Citizens and the Energy Transition, prospective students could ask any burning questions they had prior to the lecture. They were then invited to the lecture, in which they got to experience what it is like to study at UCF and even participate in class discussions. Students talked about a wide range of concepts regarding energy and electrification, which led to interesting new insights for both current and prospective students.
After the lecture, there was a Questions & Answers session in which Koen answered all questions that prospective students had - ranging from questions regarding the different majors to more practical matters such as tuition fees and housing. Overall, prospective students who joined the session were very enthusiastic and we look forward to welcoming them at the Beurs on the Student for a Day on December 17th!
